Play head manipulation via midi?

How can I send the play head in Sonar X1 to a specific point via midi? I'm using sonar as my live mixing engine for shows (lessages.com) and I want every song to be in one file, and I want to be able to jump to specific points in the timeline via my midi controller (to switch between songs).

You could place a marker at the beginning of each song. Then set up MIDI key bindings for the Next Marker and Previous Marker commands.

Play head- interesting use of the term.

You could get a control surface with a jog wheel such as the Mackie Control.

Yeah that works(assigning next and previous marker), that's actually how I've been doing it for a while now. It's just kind of awkward live because the marker text is so small (I have to be right next to my computer screen) and if I want to play songs out of order there's alot of clicking around to do. I'd rather do it all from my midi controller. I have use NI Maschine as my midi controller. It's amazing, and it allows you to set song position via midi trigger, but sonar doesn't understand the message, or ignores it. Cakewalk should just add the ability to assign midi triggers to markers that would jump the play head to that point. I'm thinking there's got to be a way to do it. Sonar can act as a slave to a sequencer, so it should be able to receive playback position information.

Is that the wrong terminology? I'll gladly accept correction, I've never been to school for any of this stuff. I've just heard other people call it that I think. Thanks.

In Sonar speak its called the time line. However I kinda like the play head term.  Harkens back to the good old tape days.

I wonder if record head or erase head would work too.
