Sonar upgrade from 6 to X1 - MIDI issues in tts-1

Hi everyone,

Apologies if this has been answered somewhere else, but I have searched the forums for 30 minutes and haven't seen anything like this.

I just upgraded from Sonar Producer 6 to Sonar X1 Producer.  I applied the X1a and X1b patches.  I haven't made any other changes.

When I open projects created in Sonar PE 6, Midi drums routed to the tts-1 drop out in a weird way.  Within a given clip a particular note will play sometimes but not others.  Sometimes the whole track drops out.  They seem to be dropping out the exact same way every time I play the file, even after closing and reopening the file or closing and reopening sonar.

I haven't had a chance to see if other softsynths are misbehaving, I usually only use the tts-1 just for scratch drums in demos.

I don't know if I am explaining this well, it is hard to describe.

Does anybody have any ideas or knowledge about this?

Thanks,

- B.

Go to Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording, and set the Prepare Using buffer to 500 if it's less than that. I believe X1 defaults to 250 where earlier versions defaulted to 500. A lot of systems have problems dropping notes with the smaller buffer.

If it's already at 500, try increasing it in increments of 100 until the problem goes away.

Thank you very much for the help.  Setting it to 500 fixed the problem straight away.

Glad you got it sorted, and glad to help.

For future reference, the easiest way to find info on the forum is to Google it like this:

    dropped notes site:forum.cakewalk.com

This search will return about 2500 hits, many of which are threads that include the Prepare Using Buffer solution. If you add brundlefly to the search, you'll only get about 1500.  .
