Flat line / no wave form in the Clips window. Please Help!

Each guy in our band has Sonar Studio X1 to edit and mixdown. (All individually paid for, legal and registered.) We typically record stuff at our sessions on one computer.   We load the files on a flash drive and take the material home where everyone loads the same editted tracks on their computer, so we are all working on the latest version of a recording.  The problem is that we seem to be able to get the information on the computers along with all the effects in the Console for each track.  But the problem is that there is no waveform in the clips window, just flat lines with no sound. I believe we also see the various tracks that say "busy" instead of the waveform. Last night I loaded a file from the most recent session on my computer from the flash drive.  It was in the form of a CWP file.  It actually loaded and played once.  I closed the file to work on something else.  I tried opening the fila later to tweak it up and got the same flat-line problem.  We 've tried using the "export" function as CWP files as well as the "Save As".  We've also tried saving them as wav files with the same result. Can anyone please help me figure this out?  Appreciate your help, J

The audio isn't physically saved with the cwp file. Save your original work as a bundle file to your flash drive, and copy that to your other workstations.

    from the manual:

    Saving your work
Like most Windows programs, SONAR has a File > Save command and a File > Save As
command to save your work. Normally, you save your projects in the standard project file format,
with a file extension of .cwp. This file contains all your MIDI data and all your project settings. Any
digital audio that is part of your project is stored in a separate file, as described in “System
    configuration” on page 1105.
SONAR also lets you save files in several other formats, as described in the table:
    File type Format Explanation
Standard MIDI .mid Used to transfer MIDI-only projects to other software products that support
    Standard MIDI files.
Bundle .cwb A single file that includes all the material in your project: MIDI data, project
settings, and audio data. This format is used for projects that contain digital
audio, when you want to back up your work or transfer a project to a different
computer. See “Backing up projects with digital audio” on page 1102 for
    more information.
Note: Bundle files do not save video data.
Template .cwt A file that is used as a pattern to create another. Templates make it easy to
create and configure new projects. See “Templates and key bindings” on
    page 991 for more information.
    Table 39.

Select all clips then on the track view Clips menu select recompute waveforms.

They are held in your picture cache which obviously aren't on the other computers

Thanks guys.  I'll give it a whirl tonight.  I love the program.  It has an enormous amount of creative potential.  Just need to learn it!  Thx again, J

It's best to have audio saved on a per-project basis.  That way when you set up a Cakewalk project, you have a folder with the song's name, and inside that folder is a sub-folder labeled Audio which has all the audio for just that specific song.  To share with the whole band, you just copy the song's master folder on to the USB sticks.

Sounds like you didn't set things up that way, but you can easily re-save the project, this time with the option checked to save audio on a per-project basis. --- Much better than the clumsy, fat Bundle file.
