Cloning and panning problem

Hey, here's a quirky problem, maybe you guys know what I could be doing wrong.  I'll clone a track that is panned hard left or right (or any other position) and when I clone the track I am unable to change the panning.  The knob may or may not move, but the panning doesn't actually change.  I've tried looking at my automation settings and I don't think that has anything to do with it.  I end up having to delete the cloned track and just add a new audio track.  This happens even if I only clone the track without the audio.

Thanks!

do you have a panning envelope on the original track?  what version of sonar are you using?
