The curious interaction between mixdown/freeze speed and the control bar

Every once in a while I'll get an issue when freezing a synth where it takes ages (and I mean minutes) to freeze synths over a few bars or so. 

Now, I noticed that this only occurs when the control bar is visible. When I press C, and the control bar is hidden, a smaller window appears on the X1 workspace and zips through the freeze process in seconds. There was a little bit of ground gained when I edited the Configuration File's BounceBufSizeMsec Property, changing it to anything other than zero, but it seems strange that a purely graphic entity should interfere so dramatically with the mixdown process. Any thoughts, similar experiences or bug fixes for this?

    This is a well known bug which I'm told was fixed in X1b.  I don't know for sure if that's right, since I only use X1 for experimenting and 8.5 for recording.  But enough people said it was fixed, so I'm rather sure it was.--You must not have gone for the X1c (cumulative update) yet?

    I haven't had a recurrence since I upgraded to X1c but it was an intermittent problem before, so it could still pop up. I actually doubt it was fixed in X1b because I was using the latest X1b quick fix (x1b 255, if I recall) when I reported this, so here's hoping X1c has truly put it to bed now :)
