Some WAV files are not loaded
Hello, sometimes, I come across WAV files that are not loaded correctly in SONAR. When I import them, it looks as if they are loaded, but no object appears. These WAVs load fine in other DAWs, so not a broken file. If I rerender the file in another DAW, it also loads in SONAR. What could cause this?

Can you elaborate on "it looks as if they are loaded, but no object appears"? Do you mean there is no image, but they still play? Or that they appear to be importing but just aren't there?

Does it say 'Busy" where the track name would normally be in the left end of the file?

No, the track remains empty. No object is created.

Could it be they are somewhere off to the right beyond the track view screen?

John Could it be they are somewhere off to the right beyond the track view screen? No, there is no object at all. If no track exists, a track is created, which is named correctly but remains empty. However, if I recall correctly, all WAVs that did not load were Broadcast WAVs. So, I suspect SONAR might have trouble with the (possibly incorrect) timestamp. This is just a guess, though. But as I said before, these files load fine in other DAWs. So, I guess, this happens on certain conditions where SONAR is not enough fault-tolerant. I have WAVs that do not load, but I don't own the rights on them. Unfortunately, I haven't been able yet to reproduce the problem with any WAV rendered by myself.

One other possibility is that they could be layered on one track.

I have seen this when we try to import Broadcast waves from out on-air editors. For some reason their time-stamp has them load into the project at about the 60 minute mark meaning we would never see them unless we scrolled to the end of the project, or hit the "end" button on the transport. Have you tried turning off the "Import Broadcast Waves at Their Time Stamp" Option?

Have you tried turning off the "Import Broadcast Waves at Their Time Stamp" Option? Thanks, this indeed did the trick. Now, the question is: Is this a bug in SONAR or do the Broadcast WAVs have wrong timestamps?

So if I have this right they were as I had asked off to the right beyond view? Is that so Patrick?

John So if I have this right they were as I had asked off to the right beyond view? Is that so Patrick? Actually, yes. My fault. When I tested it when you asked, I've hit the wrong key combination accidentally. Sorry.
