UAD-1 issues

Hi!

I just upgraded my PC to a 64-bit Windows 7 machine and am unable to run my UAD-1 PCI card.
My UAD-2 PCI is no problem, but the moment I insert a plugin running under the UAD-1, I get dropouts without even pressing "play".  I look at my Lynx mixer (I use a Lynx AES16 card), and the dropouts rise by the second even when I'm just sitting and watching.
If I have a project with a single UAD-1 plugin, I open it and dropouts climb rapidly.

I can, of course, assign all my UAD plugs to the UAD-2 card but I'm left with an unused resource that I just don't want to live without.

I do not own a UAD-1 interface, but I know a lot of people have troubles running this card (and plug ins) in a 64 bit environment. It seems some motherboards can handle it well and some don't. Especially newer motherboards seem to have some trouble.

It seems to help some when you re-slot (put the card in another slot) and re-install the drivers. As far as I can read the 5.50 drivers seem to work. I found an older topic on the UAD site describing problems with Windows 7 64 bit. I don't know if this is of any help: UAD treath

Sorry - I hope someone else has better news.

There is an option in the UAD Meter program that lets you select Sonar compatibility mode for UAD-1 Cards. It basically adds some more latency.
You also might want to move the cards to different slots on the motherboard. There could be an IRQ sharing issue going on.
-Make sure all unnecessary devices are turned off or disconnected. I disconnect my USB multifunction printer all the time.
-Turn unused ports off in the system BIOS.

-Use the DPC Latency tool to see if there are lots of interruptions http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml)

I have seen issues on a system with 1 UAD-1 and 2 UAD-1e cards where moving the older UAD-1 PCI card to a different slot resolved the issue.
You may want to consider ditching the UAD-1 card via trade in at JRRShop.com for another UAD-2 card, which is what I am contemplating doing for my studio rig.

In Sonar X1 x64, i have to use jBridge for my UAD-1 plugins to operate properly.

Are you relaying on Sonar's built in bridger?

I have a UAD-1 and UAD-2.  I had probelms with them when I chose my own directory during install.  I had to do the UAD clean uninstall and reinstall letting them choose their own directories and adding the path to Plugin Manager.  The are 32 bit but still use different versions for 32 and 64 bit host.  UA told me this happens with Sonar sometimes.

I have seen a lot of instability with the latest UAD drivers and a system with both the UAD1 & UAD2 cards as well. I just pulled the UAD1s and will sell them. All is good with the UAD2 only based system.

    Thanks for the reply everyone!
I am going to give some of these suggestions a try.

To reply to some of you guys:
    - I started with BitBridge, and it worked well for all plugs cept UAD-1.  I installed jBridge after I bought it this weekend, and checked off the option to use it.  I don't notice anything different when opening any of the 32-bit plugs....  perhaps I'm doing something wrong.  I thought the wrapper-gui was different.  I'm totally guessing though off readings online :)

    - I installed in cakewalk's vstplugins directory.  I usually always install all plugs in here, not their own directory.  When I have a spare 20 mins or so I'll give that option a try!

how can i start BitBridge? i have 3 uad cards, 1 and 2, but in sonar x1 64 bit i cant use more than one uad plugin.
is this old? i have tried it for 8 month last time.
is there someone who can really run uad plugins in sonar x64 ?
    and how das it work?

"...in sonar x1 64 bit i cant use more than one uad plugin"

That's one of the issues related to using UAD-1s w/ BitBridge. Using jBridge allows use of multiple UAD-1 plugins.

Fooman, after installing jBridge, did you at least notice the jBridge logo in the strip along the bottom of your UAD-1 plugins? If not, it means that jBridge has not yet been enabled.

I JUST figured out how to load jBridge to each individual plugin!  Thanks for telling me what to look for :)

I apologize for not loading up my UAD-1 once more, but when I do and it fails I simply have to restart in order for my system to work again :(
So I've put all plugs to my UAD-2 card.  It's quite the PITA.

I will try again later now that I'm aware of how to load up a jBridge plug.
    Thanks again!

This is puzzling to me as on my music production DAW I have X1b 64 bit (just look below) and a UAD2 Duo, a UAD2 solo and 1 UAD1 card...and all my plugs run super under BitBridge.

Same here. Running 2 x UAD1's and a UAD2 Quad. Everything works as expected using BitBridge. Specs below.

    Who knows.
Maybe it's my Lynx AES16 card?
Maybe it's a system sneeze upon installation?

The UAD Control Panel tells no tales of being in trouble.  But I'm going to try this jBridge thing later on tonight to see if it'll give me some hope.  I got it running with some of the UAD plugs, it's a much nicer 'wrapper'.  I just need to find time to go through each darn plugin and assign it to see if it'll work out.
    We'll see tho.

    Success!
I enabled jBridge on the 1073's, changed it back over to run on my UAD-1 card and no dropouts!
    Thank jebus!

Fingers crossed I don't run into anymore issues.
I highly suggest Cakewalk puts a link up to the jBridge site on the top of the forums here till the 32-bit 64-bit issues disappear haha.  It seems that not everyone needs it, but I sure did and I think others do as well for w/e reason.
