Errors

I don't know if these are related to one another but when I play a project it plays fine but sometimes when I try to listen again, I can't hear anything but the now time is moving. When I go to other projects it plays fine. On the same project where you save and can see the progress bar saving, it said reset button and crashed. I couldnt take a screen of that one though. Then on the same project I was saving and got that error in the picture above.

Thanks

It might be a user permissions problem. Try running it as an Administrator, if you haven't already.

I have had similar experiences with now time moving and no sound.  The only resolution was to break out of Sonar and restart the program.  Personally I have had this happen enough times in various projects that I can't say what causes it, but it happens a lot and frankly I blame Sonar and its instability.

I guess I could try it out though I doubt it will fix the problem. I have just finished reinstalling my system yesterday and suddenly got all these problems. I never had to run as admin before....and don't think I should have to do this now.

I wish there was a solution to how my sps-66 firewire goes to "sleep". What I mean by that is sometimes When working on projects I can hear the project and play it nicely then the next time I play I can't hear anything though it is still playing.

    I did.

I installed X1 on my wife's laptop last night and the only way I could get Dim Pro registered was to run it as Admin.

    Silliness.

SONAR can no longer access your files because something else is either accessing those files or blocking SONAR from accessing them. It's a pretty descriptive error message.

It's probably due to a virus scanner, power saving feature, or Windows user privledge.

I wish tech support could reply as decisively and fast. You provide an opinion, not an answer. Silliness.

    No, he gave an opinion.

I gave an educated guess. I don't know what's installed or how his system is configured.

BEATZM1D1OT is on the right track. It's not a "SONAR stability" issue. Most likely, another process (e.g. another instance of SONAR, or WMP, or a virus scanner or automated backup utility) has the file open.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

You and my ex-wife would get along wonderfully.   When something went wrong in her life, it was my fault because.....well, I just happend to be standing nearby at the time.

I noticed that one of my plugins that also acts as a stand alone was active when my X1 projects would start moving down the timeline and not playing anything back.   Turned out the the audio drivers were getting played changed on the control surface by the plug.  I preferred to have SONAR set to use WDM drivers and the control surface manufacturer recommended the same but the plug kept changing the drivers to ASIO which are not promiscuous and will only play with one program at a time.

I tend to agree with the evaluation that the access error is due to another process/program having the file opening and not allowing additional access.

Boy, I really struck a nerve, and it is not my intent to thread-jack.

In my situation the only thing it might be is a virus scanner, except I don't see how, as the scanner is intelligent enough to wait until the computer is idle.  I could be wrong I suppose.

Also, I have not had the error message Sharp describes, just the now time with no audio issue, so I have part of his problem but no all of it.  Was just relaying my experience.

    Anyhow I didn't intend to thread-jack, sorry.

Phonic, you're good to go, and I don't think you hijacked anything. Hopefully you will get your issue sorted out.

I had an issue with no sound and the cause was obscure. I had a plug in the effects bin get turned off. Sorry I can't remember which one, but it was included in X1 producer. I ASSumed that all plugs were true bypass in nature but it was not so. In my case turning off the plug cancelled all audio throughput.

I spent an hour trying to find out why the audio was no show and then discovered the plugin. Doubtful this is your problem but worth a look.

    Re:Errors 2011/08/10 15:57:24 (permalink)
All I can say is that I disabled UAC on my music computer completely. This computer is only connected to a (protected) local network, and has no virus scanners active or installed while using it with X1. For safety I do a weekly virus scan using a partition with Linux and the Avast! virus scanner in it. That way I can scan the Windows partition and there are no files in use on that partition. This works great and fast. As a side note - the "music" computer is not used for gaming or browsing the internet. I do run Blender (a free open source 3d design program) on the same computer but that's about it..

Why did I disabled UAC?  Well - UAC could be a good protection/access system in principle, but it is in fact a very lousy implementation in reality. Microsoft succeeded in taking a good look at the UNIX/Linux permission structure, and implementing it only partly and lousy in Windows - leading to a lot of problems. It would not surprise me one bit if a lot of problems (but not all - some are real bugs) people have with X1 turned out to be generated by a badly behaving permission structure.

Anyway - like others have said before- you could try to see if another program is using the file at the same moment (think about a sound/music player or a program like Sound forge or Audacity etc.). If all fails you can try to take ownership of the directory and everything below it, to rule out any protection scheme.

My problem is a bit different. Before the no audio issue my pc lags then when it goes back to normal and try to play the project only the now time moves but I get no audio. The light on my sps 66 out stops lighting which usually turns on as I playback the project. I have my UAC all disabled and even with my anti virus exited it still does this. I have the latest drivers for my sps-66  but to no avail. I am thinking this is my busted mobo or need to replace the processor.

Also any ideas on the "reset button" problem and the problem with the image I posted?

    Thanks
