Scotty - I'm traveling so not in front of the DAW (and somewhat uncharacteristic for the forum, no one responded to your question.... they may be watching the Dow instead of the DAW... sorry, little financial humor).
Anyway, a couple suggestions:
1) For recording vocals you'll want a decent pair of over the ear headphones so you can hear the music while you're singing.
2) The tricky part, for me anyway, is being able to hear my vocals... so I'll set up a separate bus that outputs to the sound card and then an Aux send off the voice track to go to that so I can turn the Master down and the headphones up.
3) You can turn the metronome sound off; I think that's under Options>General or something like that. I haven't gone in there for awhile and am on the road away from the DAW.
Hang in there. There's a bit of learning curve as you get set up but it gets more and more fun and rewarding as you go along.
