bit rate change?

I have been doing all projects in 24/44.1 and that is what my Delta 1010 is set to.
After adding a bunch of midi tracks I started noticing popping when starting stopping and then noticed the project is actually set to 16/44.1.
I wonder how and when I changed this and if it's too late to change it to 24 bit...and if not, how?
Thanks for your patience,
Randy

I don't think you can change the bit rate or sample rate after the fact.

So I would need to copy/paste into a new project (all MIDI)?
    Thanks A1,

I believe you can change the bitrate through the Utilities Menu - Change Audio Format.

Make sure you have your file saved first, make the change, and then save it with a new name/version after making the change.  Then go to Preferences - Audio Data and make sure the record bit depth there is set to 24 so that the rest of the project will continue at that.

Well it looked like it was going to work (rendered audio etc) but it still shows as being 16 bit.
As to then go to Preferences - Audio Data and make sure the record bit depth there is set to 24 so that the rest of the project will continue at that.

Several times I had noticed the setting being at 24 bit and greyed out when trying to figure out how to change it as it still was after following your suggestion.
    Thank very much,
    Randy

I may have missed a step there.  Select all tracks first(Ctrl + A) and then the Change audio format.  Then you should be able to change the project bit depth in Preferences.

No sir it did the same thing and it does indeed show that it's doing some mixing down.
Here's the part I might not have explained well though: 24 bit is selected in prefs along with 64 bit engine. 24 bit is greyed out I assume because the sound card is set to 24 bit (everything in the mixing latency section is also greyed out).
It appears to be in 24 bit but the light blue box that shows the now time, the time signature and the tempo also shows 44.1 over 16.

Could this just be a GUI graphic error?
    Thanks very much,
    Randy

    Hi Randy,

I've had similar observations and become confused why it was happening... and especially why it seemed to have changed from my normal experience.

You might want to go find the preference for record bit depth and make sure it is set to 24.

That seems to be the setting that relates to the readout in SONAR's lower pane.

IIRC, All the other settings like driver depth, render depth etc are separate from that.

In a recent thread John described where the record bit depth selection is... I'm not at my system and I don't recall where it was moved to in X1.

The thing that confused me is that I never set it to 16 and all my work is at 24... so it surprised me when I noticed it.. and never figured out if it just came with the install or changed at some point.

    Good luck.

    best regards,
    mike

It's under file/audio data in prefs and changing it from 16 to 24 did work (yay!)
    Like you, I do everything in 24 bit so I'm not sure how/when it changed...perhaps when I installed z3ta + 2.
    Thanks very much everyone,
    Randy
