Help File Error?

I was the Getting Started help files (found in the Help Menu in X1), and i came across an entry that doesn't seem to be right.

This has to do with selecting multiple clips, in connection with the Control Bar Select Module. In the 'Selecting Clips' section of getting started (table 49), it says that we can select multiple clips by holding down ALT and the Smart Tool or the Select Tool, and dragging the mouse across the top half of multiple clips.

This works ok using the Select Tool, but when i tried it with the Smart Tool, the clips ended up getting cut into slices. Is this an error in the help instructions, or am i doing something wrong here?

regards
Glenn

Yes, that's an error. Using the Smart Tool, you don't need to hold down ALT. Just dragging across the top half of clips will allow you to do partial clip selections. When you hold down ALT with the Smart Tool it temporarily activates the split function and will split the clip at the mouse location.
