Two Questions: Rename Clip and Duplicate Clip

As stated in a previous post (yesterday, I think), I have been a Sonar user since 2008. I found that previous versions of Sonar were superior to all others for my mixing and mastering needs. Recording, not so much; for that I used Live. However, since moving into X1, I find that recording is a lot easier than Live, especially for x64 machines. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the differences between Sonar X1 and Live 8. As such, my questions will be kinda newbie. And, yes...I have looked for these answers elsewhere before posting here (always do). Please have mercy until I get up to speed with this awesome software.

That being stated, I have two questions today. I'm building a drum track from scratch. Of course, this means I'm recording small bits and parts and then properly piecing them together for later adjustment. I'm using MIDI, not recording directly to audio.

1. CLIP DUPLICATION - Sonar's copy and paste is too cumbersome. it makes a lot of sense for audio but not really for MIDI (at least for me). Live had an easy way to duplicate a MIDI clip through the right click menu. Is there a way to do this in Sonar, too. or am I stuck with the time-wasting Copy & Paste method?

2. CLIP RENAMING - Sonar 7 & 8 had a way of renaming a newly recorded clip. For the life of me (and maybe I've just forgotten how), I can't figure out how to do this in X1. For example, changing a clip's auto-generated label from Record 3 to Kick 1a.

That should be it for today. Many thanks to those who can guide me with these.

    1. Ctrl+drag a clip to quickly make a copy of it.

    2. Press I to toggle the Inspector. Click the Clip tab at the top of the Inspector. Select the clip(s) you want to rename and then type the new name into the Clip Name field.

Any way to blank out the name for a large number of clips at once?

Yes, the procedure is the same as above. Select all the clips and then just delete the word (Multi) from the Clip Name parameter and press Enter.

Thank you, Scott! That makes renaming clips a LOT easier. However, the ctrl+drag is a real pain in the backside when clips for the same instrument aren't directly connected. Gotta know EXACTLY where to begin the additional clips. One would think Cakewalk would take a lesson from Live intuitive duplication.

I'll make do, though. The other X1 improvements are of a nature to now allow me to use ONE DAW for everything. The reduced memory footprint alone makes it all worth it! Haven't had the engine cut out even once yet! *thumbs up*
    Again, thanks!
