Sonar X1c 64 bit hang using Waldorf Blofeld VST
I just downloaded and installed Sonar X1c on my PC Audio Labs mobile i7 running Windows 7 64 bit Professional with 12 G of RAM and a 3.46 GHz 6 core CPU. I have an experimental project which has nothing but a single midi track mapped with an M-Audio Axiom 61 as input and (normally) a Waldorf Blofeld as output. The following set of steps causes Sonar X1c to go into a loop:
1) In edit preferences I disable Waldorf Blofeld as an input or output device.
2) I load the Waldorf Blofeld control VST from Softknobs version 0.8.3b in the synth rack
3) I select Waldorf Blofeld in the VST for midi input and output (I know....this is a stupid function of how the VST is done)
4) I close up the VST window and then go back into edit-preferences to select midi devices to enable
5) I attempt to enable Waldorf Blofeld for input and output so that I can use the keyboard to actually play notes on the silly thing.
6) Sonar hangs in a loop and the SonarPRD.exe process had to be killed in the task manager.
Please note that this is an unusual condition and a function of this truly awful VST that I never got working correctly in ANY version of Sonar. I just tried it out on the latest version and found this issue and felt it worth reporting. The problem with the VST is it will not allow you to assign the Blofeld as an output port or input port if Sonar has already had that port enabled from the devices preferences. It is terrible.
Just because inquiring minds might want to know....I would not draw any wide ranging conclusions about the stability of X1c based on this.
