off to do the ceed

It downloaded in 4 minutes... I am actually going to install it.

Don't need to make a disc image either... cause if It isn't peaches and cream I am going straight back to November 2010... right after I installed PT9.

    I just did X1C.

It was like reliving last December.... the GUI is just too ugly to look at.

I think I'm going to put it down.

    Maybe you are rushing things.

Try taking her out for dinner a few times and get to know her.

You don't need to rush in to a fully commited relationship straight away.

She maybe really nice once you've got over the first nite anxiety.  Even if she doesn't turn out to be 'the one' she may end up being a good friend in the long term. (well at least until the next subscription cycle.)

    Just a thought.

I have to roll the dice...

My last image was just after installing Komplete 7 on Dec 16th

The previous one was right after installing PT9.

I paid for SONAR on Dec 10th but waited for my box copy to install it...

and I don't know if it was before or after Komplete 7.

If I back up to Dec 16... I may not go back far enough. If I go back further I have to spend 2 days installing Komplete 7.

    :-)

    Feeling lucky?

    Couldn't you just uninstall X1?

If you feel the need wouldn't that be the simplest solution?

I've been using the Sonar Mods (prior to the X1c installation) and noticed it went back to the original X1 post installation. (They shouldn't be messing with a good thing when it works so well....).

Maybe you just need a "viewing shield" like this:

I was using this for awhile, but then started to hyperventillate and in frustration just shut my monitor off.

Mesh, I've found that prolonged use of that shield may have a tendancy to power everything off, depending on one's point of view.

    It is done.

I'm at December 16, 2010 and it was right after Komplete 7 install and just before installing X1.

Now I have to install all the Komplete updates that came out over spring and summer... but I was behind on those any ways so I'll play catch up and have the squeaky clean system I used to enjoy.

It is the very first time I ever did a system restore using a disc image program like True Image... hardly the mark of success.

On occasions it seemed like the X1 install had been detrimental to my 8.5.2 install... all those MS redistributables and stuff??? I don't know.

It feels good to have a clean slate.

    best,
    mike

Bubba, you may have a very good point here....(necessity being the mother of invention).....it seems that I've been using it for all the wrong applications....so, you're saying it's something like a "pull the plug, power down, systems disconnect, on/off switch" that works like power surge (without the surge)?

.....and use the 2 ply paper bags for the GUI issue?
(this is so exciting....it's like getting a new bout of GAS).

I just re-run the earlier install after removing the newer version.

IIRC when I've done it before the DX stuff wouldn't re-register the now older versions so I just deleted the 'Shared' folders ran the installer and everything was back fresh.

I agree, I use a disk imager too and provided you have a good selection of well-documented images in some cases it's much easier and quicker to get back to a good place that way.

May I refer you to this?:

    http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2365904

I just did a quick restoration remix of an old 8 track analog (rescued to a Pro Tools session just before the tape disintegrated and sent over to me) recording using SONAR v8.5 and it felt good.

I don't see any icons that bug me anymore.

It's like I found the voodoo doll that was hidden in my room and I made it go away.

    :-)

    best regards,
    mike

It's been a bitter sweet delicacy for me to be able to just observe for the last 9 months.

I so wanted my favourite DAW maker to hit a home run with X1 and yet I'm glad I haven't had to go through any of it.

What exactly would I have gained even if it had worked as advertised from day one?

I must have forgotten that part.
