soft synth reverts to original sound

I found some old threads related to this topic, but still have a problem.  I'm using TSS-1 soft synth.   I have selected a new patch and it plays the new sound.   But when I replay the track from the beginning, it reverts to the old patch which I do not want.   I'm on Windows 7 64 bit and am using sonar 8 with all updates.

How are you selecting the new patch... in the synth itself or in the Track Inspector? There are a couple of reasons I can think of why the patch would change. One, there is a patch selected in the Track Inspector and the track reverts to that. Another reason would be that there is a patch change inserted into the track. This would be visible in the Event List view.

I went into the track event list and deleted the patch that was there.  It now seems to work.  Not sure what the track inspector is though.

    Thanks.

If this was a Midi file you downloaded from the Internet, that would explain why it had a patch change inserted. Expect that on any Midi file you download. You can also insert your own patch change or change the one that is already inserted to the patch you want.

This is the Track Inspector. Show/Hide it by pressing the i key on your keyboard.

I have MIDI tracks that I created myself on an Atari and the program numbers   do not show on the events list. Changing them in the properties does not work either as I used to put the event on the 2nd or third beat area of the sequence. The song would start with the new patch , but change back when it found the hidden event.
My solution was to drag that track to hide (the color)  to the very first note.
It would then skip that hidden number.
The only way I could find those PG numbers was by opening the song in other software. I use version 7 so they might have fixed that bug by now.
