I was really only clearing up something for a new forum user but as I was writing, I felt like a full explanation of both sides was warranted so all who read that sticky thread would be informed.
I think there are ways of doing things that show respect for all concerned. I respect Cakewalk for the positive way they treat us and generally show a lot of leniency to us users in many ways.
On the other hand I also appreciate the work that you and Ben have done for the community here.
Having given what I thought was a balanced explanation I didn't think it would have been good manners to insert a link to your site or Ben's in what Cakewalk obviously felt was their thread to address a matter of importance to them.
Previously I suggested to Seth that I reckoned there was a way that Cakewalk could allow you and Ben to accept donations by modifying your user license. The rights are Cakewalks and its made clear in the EULA that the license is always sold subject to any conditions that the license owner sees fit to impose. Cakewalk have licensed technology from 3rd parties and to 3rd parties before. They could do it for you and Ben too. It would just take the right legal structure to make it happen.
Anyways. If you feel I've done something positive then; Thanks.
I don't think there's a forum member that wouldn't agree that both of you guys rock for doing what you've done for all of us with the mods. It's a lot of what this forum's about and should be more often. Wish I had the skills to make that sort of a contribution.
