More step sequencer and drum map woes..........

Further to my earlier post about snap to values when using drum maps, I can't get the step sequencer to open an existing pattern when double clicking on it if the track output is assigned to a drum map. Set straight to my drum machine is fine but if it's to a map I get the default step sequencer. i.e. no notes/hits just blank.

Anyone confirm this one for me. I'll report it anyway it's consistent for me.

I've now got two consecutive bug reports for drum map problems. Perhaps I'll make it three before the session is out.

Step Sequencer is blank when double clicking on a clip assigned to a drum map

Create a step sequencer clip
Assign the track it is on to a drum map
Close the step sequencer
Double click in the bottom half of the sequencer clip

Expected Result

I would expect the step sequencer to open the clip and display the hits

Actual result

The step sequencer opens in it's default state. ie. no notes or pattern

    Hey FBB,

While the Step Sequencer uses drum maps as its underlying architecture, it is not required to access drum maps to rout rows to different outputs. All you have to do is open the row in the Step Sequencer and assign its output to any synth or hardware out in the list.

Working this way should help yo avoid the problems you are encountering. And you can save empty SSV clips with your custom routing for future use.

    Hi Seth

thanks for the reply. I appreciate that I can go route straight to a machine, which is what I'm now doing but I've a couple of drum machines and synths with decent-ish sounding drums on them that I've made some maps from that I use by default.

That's how I've discovered the problems. I appreciate it's a fairly minor issue and now I know about it I can work round it but for a while this afternoon I thought I was going crazy. Working okay on some tracks and not others with no immediately obvious differences.

Anyway I filed a couple of bug reports with the issues I've found. I doubt they are by design. Thanks again, and while we're on the subject any chance you can put a few words in the right ears for an updated drum map manager. Pretty please

Doh..... just got what you meant Seth. I can almost use the step sequencer as a drum map manager, certainly for routing anyway. That may even be better than my current method.

Thanks for that tip much appreciated. At least I've learnt something today.

CWBRN 5787 Step Sequencer is blank when double clicking on a clip assigned to a drum map

I can't reproduce this one, but as I posted in your other thread, I can confirm the PRV snap issue.

And since I usually use conventional MIDI clips with drum maps (as I did in my PRV Snap test), using the Step Sequencer's built-in drum mapping is not always an option.

Thanks again. This one is consistent for me. It's no biggy (for me) especially with Seth's tip but maybe it'll get fixed (assuming it's not user error of course)

I have the same issue with Step Sequencer it doesn't open the clip when i double-click on it. I have to double-click the clip again to open it. If SS is open I can double-click any clip and it will open it. This is not how it behaved up until I installed X1c. Glad to see I am not alone with this. thanks

Hi there, yours may be a slightly different issue by the sound of it. Double clicking on it for me opens the Step Sequencer it just doesn't display the pattern I've double clicked on. Also just to be clear, this only happens if a drum map is assigned as an output. Otherwise it works as expected.
