He he, this made me chuckle. I both agree and disagree with both of you from time to time but I feel for you Bub with that one. Freddie's reply is simply priceless Just take a few deep breaths, a glass of water and enjoy a glas of wine with Mrs. Bub and it will all go away soon

Here's what ya do since it's summertime and damn hot: Get some La Croix sparkling water, Lime flavor then some fresh limes and a fifth of Hayman's Old Tom Gin. Into a tall glass filled to the brim with ice pour one (or whatever) jigger of gin and then squeeze 1/4 lime and then fill to the brim with La Croix. Sit back in a comfortable place. Sip. Repeat as needed. Don't call me in the morning.

After all the ****ing upstairs about how crappy Windows XP was ... I can honestly say in all the years I used XP and Sonar ... I NEVER .. EVER ran in to the **** I am running in to with Windows 7 and X1. Now I got an IQ challenged forum member telling me 4GB of RAM on an Intel i5 Quad Core isn't enough to run 1 track and 1 effect. I swear to God if I could return X1 and get my money back, I would do it immediately. This is the straw that broke the camels back and I'm probably going to say something and get banned before the day is over. So if you want some good entertainment folks ... don't leave your computer. 8 months! 8 MONTHS!! and this is what it has come to??? I'm not the only one seeing this CPU spike thing by the way ... but I see the others who are reporting it are being thrown to the lions like I am. As soon as I saw that Net 2010 Redistributable being loaded when I installed X1C ... I knew my system was ****ed and there was nothing I could do about it. If I had to venture a guess, I would say that's what the problem is.

Sit back, relax and think about ways of resolving this without getting banned. If can't think of one, at least think of an entertaining way to do it. LOL Did you think about trying a clean install of OS and Sonar. I did that with 8.5. I didn't get Guitar Rig working, but it hasn't been a priority for me. Good luck. Jan

Don't give up, Bub. There are certain posters who, although highly entertaining, need to be regularly countered lest they lead a whole bunch of noobs over a cliff. Thought for the day: "Today's production equipment is IT-based and cannot be operated without a passing knowledge of computing, although it seems that it can be operated without a passing knowledge of audio." - John Watkinson It would appear that the computing prerequisite has now been waived as well.

Thanks for the support everyone. My ISP went down a couple of minutes after I started this thread and just came back up a few minutes ago so there weren't any fireworks upstairs today. Sorry. I did a system restore back to X1B and the problem is still there so my only option now is to restore from an HDD image.

I've never seen anyone have more issues with Cakewalk software except maybe Keni. Good luck with your search. Just as a note, I had problems way back on Cakewalk 6. After a year of struggling I replaced my Motherboard. All my problems went away.

Middleman I've never seen anyone have more issues with Cakewalk software except maybe Keni. You apparently haven't spent much time upstairs then. No complaints from me on 8.5.3, it has run flawlessly on this PC. So far everything I've run in to has been a confirmed bug with X1 that others have seen, and I'd be willing to bet you the farm that when I get to the bottom of this X1C problem, it will be something that needs to be addressed on Cakewalks end. Good luck with your search. Just as a note, I had problems way back on Cakewalk 6. After a year of struggling I replaced my Motherboard. All my problems went away. The best running DAW I ever had, I built, and it had an Intel CPU on an Intel Mobo. I went with a Gigabyte this time but I'll never do that again. Well, enough fun for one day/night ... gonna shut er' down. Have a good one. :)

I did a system restore back to X1B and the problem is still there so my only option now is to restore from an HDD image. Yeah, System Restore isn't that good mate - I've had issues with it before, and it DOESN'T restore everything you expect it to (and 99 times out of 100 it'll exclude just those files & settings that are causing me problems in the first place). HDD imaging is the way to go, failing that a complete re-installation of everything. Not a job for the faint of heart.

Bub everything seems to have changed. The OS...the power of the PC's...the software...just so much changing around the time of X1. I jumped on early and made the switch to 64 bit with computer, OS (Win7 64) and X1 (64) and the biggest issues outside of the few bugs in X1 for them to work out, were drivers and a new audio interface. With that many things changing I just figured it was best to update everything. I know that's not the answer for eveyone...it was just my answer and it worked out fine. Kinda sounds like your setup just isn't what it's going to take. Personally if I'd tried with my old system- I would have wiped it clean and started fresh. Good luck though.
