Uninstall 8.53 when X1c installed?

Uninstall 8.53 when X1c installed?

Hello I am thinking of unistalling Producer 8.53. I do have X1c installed and only use this version as I didn't do much on 8.53 (so will not loose anything). I don't see any problems with this uninstall as I really don't need any back compability with 8.53? However, is there features in 8.53 which are included into X1 when installing it? i.e do I have to reinstall some features for use in X1? Thanks!

    In the past when I've un-installed a previous version it has also removed some of the bundled plugins that both the older and newer versions use.  The installer shouldn't do that, but it did. The solution was to simply re-install the later version.

    Maybe it won't happen, but you've been warned.

    DO NOT UNINSTALL previous versions, ever.

    No need. And lots of reason to not.

    Need to open old projects that will not open with new version.
    Cuz of all kinds of things.

    Need to export all presets for import into new program.

    I use C:\AudioCommon (and sub-folders) for all vsts and other such bits, so all versions can access plugs, and presets.

    And so I can quickly access all the stuff.  Way stupid to put this stuff in the Program Files folder.

    And C:\AudioPrograms for all non-sonar things.

    Yep, overall, it's simply not worth it - you reclaim a very small amount of disc space and as pointed out above, you could casue a couple of problems with your X1 install.

    I have just recently removed Sonar 6 PE from my system and have already come across 2 projects referencing plugs which were no longer on the system, prompting a selective install of 6 once again.

    Good advice here. Don't bother, doesn't matter how much you love X1 you'll gain very little disk space so why? The negative possibilities far out way the positives.

    I still have 8.3 & 8.5 installed and I've opened 8.5 once since installing X1 in December. Felt completely lost and shut it again.

      Hehe. Yep. I really like the new look. Now I can create music, not wondering where "this" and "that" functions are in 8.53. Will keep it for now, even though I don't have any finalized projects in 8.53. Thanks
