Its the UI

I finally figured out what my biggest issue may be....I don't like the Sonar X1 UI. I realized this when I started using several other Daws. I like several UIs a lot. The color scheme, layout and graphic choices are very nice! However their features and workflow aren't yet to my liking. If they were then I wouldn't be posting here anymore.

Sonar has a great feature set and workflow in most cases, however the UI is just to drab right now. Too 'uninspiring' and since we are visual creatures first this is hurting my mojo when trying to create using X1. I am ready for X2 and I hope it is much more inspiring UI. I miss my mojo!

I have to agree, though I've went to Reaper and so don't even care much anymore. I did the C update, and it works okay, but it is just so bland..........

    Just don't get X1

No but honestly I am nervous about installing unofficial mods to Sonar (or any other Daw).

Normally I am too. But in this case the mods are so well done and install in such an easy way for going back just in case there is a problem there is no reason to not use them. Panu did this right.

Nothing to worry about - seriously - hundreds of users have installed several of Panups mods with no adverse affects.

Why are you nervous about it?

The mods are not programs. Each different mod is a single file that is substituted for the standard SONAR graphics resource file. The original file is kept and can be put back at any time returning the system to a pristine installation.

cakewalk acknowledges this in their sticky thread about undoing mods before submitting error and bug reports. so you see it's completely safe. I'd say far more of us have installed the mods and are successfully running them, than what would amount to Cakewalk's entire beta testing progam. The response of Panup to any issues is extraordinarily fast and the mods have proven to be entirely stable.
