Multi dock
Besides the fact that I cannot stand this thing (the Multi dock)-Is there a way to make it float "Always"? I did use Sonar plus to turn it off-but then doublw clicking on a midi track won't show up? Why can't it open in it's own window instead of Multi dock?

I realise it's each to their own but I don't understand why you would want to use a floating window and not a floating multidock. The only difference is that the multidock has a tab or tabs in it. It can be resized to max by pressing Shift+D and then collapsed or called up by pressing D. All your windows are then in one place and cycle through by pressing ctrl+shift+left or right arrow. The alternative is to have the windows all floating which scatters them all over the place with no easy control on resizing them. Anyway that said the only way to have windows floating is to undock them each time although of course a screenset would remember their undocked state. There AFAIK is no way of changing the default behaviour of a PRV view (or any other for that matter) of docking when first opened. To undock the multidock click on the docking options arrow to the right of the multidock title bar. There you can select where it docks or undock it. As I said once it is undocked it is like a regular floating window on steriods in that it'll hold lots of views if need be and can be collapsed or recalled at the press of a button (D). What's not to like about it?

BTW-I do know how to manipulate the MD, that's not my issue. I do not have a ton of real estate so whenever the MD is enabled it takes a part of the track or console view which for the way I've worked for many years is a pain for me. Also, I hate the sticky sides in Win7 (where if you move a window to an edge it maximizes, or does some other magic. But at least I was able to turn that off. There is an option in Win7 for that. If the MD is open if I move a window too close it grabs it. Nope, I don't like that. In the double click options I choose event view as the result for midi tracks. If I disable the MD it also disables the double click because the MD is the window the double click opens to. Dumb. Thanks for the reply-I will have to live with it.

The multi dock is not that different from the tabs in 8. Just more versatile.

Sonar Plus allows you to disable MD.

I do not have a ton of real estate so whenever the MD is enabled it takes a part of the track or console view But it doesn't if you float the multidock, maximise it then press D it then disappears to a small window bar, to call it back again press D. It behaves just like any Window view in Sonar does when minimised. That's why I don't understand the difference between using the floating multidock and a floating window. If the MD is open if I move a window too close it grabs it. Nope, I don't like that.
Hold down the ctrl key, that stops it.

As you stated first, To each his own. I know how it works, I just don't like it. As I said I'll live. Just asked if their was a way to make it float as it's default. That's all. The answer was no-so OK. End of story for me. Thanks for chiming in. I still hate it.

Yeah, it's the board that does that. Like these shoes of mine that keep going on the wrong feet. Damn shoes.

This suggests you could save that state into the normal template for new projects.

FastBikerBoy Ok no worries. I tried...... FBB I do appreciate your efforts. Honest-Just do not like the MD or the tabs in 853. Then again I am just an old time guitar slinger from the Nam era. So what do I know-Now if X1 skylight had more of a camouflaged look I probably could use my pathfinder skills to get around better :-) But really TYhanks John, FBB and others.
