Auditioning some of the sounds on the xln audio site........well so far, the ballad pack sounds dated....I'm assuming Addictive Drums has been around a long time?

Just went on the forums....some of the AD users are actually pushing NI Studio Drummer and are stating that the AD snares suck, lol

Well, I won't be jumping on this, as I have more than enough drums for now. I've not had any experience with Addictive drums so have no idea if they are any good. But for those who can NEVER have enough.. ;)

Gaffpro Just went on the forums....some of the AD users are actually pushing NI Studio Drummer and are stating that the AD snares suck, lol Ridiculous. With all the paks, there are a wide variety of snares included -- all tweakable using the envelopes, filters and FX inside the program. IOW, if you can't make it sound good with what they give you, it's not their fault. In fact, I'd say that's true of any of the drum VSTis nowadays. As far as those folks complaining, I think it's just easier to say their tools suck, than admit it's really the person using those tools.

AD is a good package. Similar to EZDrummer in ease of use and lots of add-on libraries available (that are cheaper than Toontrack's). I think it sounds pretty good. There is (or at least was last I looked) a downloadable demo, so just give it a try for yourself. It's not as tweakable as Superior Drummer, though, which remains my go-to drum kit.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

I don't own Addictive but I know a few people that do. It sounds fine, and appears to be somewhere between EZ & Superior in terms of tweakability. Not only does audiomidi have the program for $99, Sweatwater also has all the packs on for half price.
Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take! I appreciate the responses from you guys that actually use the program.....I think I'll get it...not just for the sounds but for the midis as well JD: I hear you on what you're saying......the program seemed to be like EZ Drummer when I was checking it out.....but some of the forum comments I thought were strange, particularly coming from some so called drummers

I use AD and find it to be very good. It took me a while to get the set that I liked but now it's just great. There is a Sonar designer snare available that sounds great as well.

There is an addictive drums demo that is quite usable and doesn't expire.

AD is a perfectly good choice, works & sounds fine. My only critique is that installations can be a bit tricky sometimes.

I've been using it for a couple years. I think it is a very intuitive and powerful synth. Not bloated like SD., but sounds just as good. The interface is very intuitive and uncluttered. $99 is a very good price. I would get the Retro pak since it's on sale.
