    To redraw waveforms
    1. Select the clips that you want to redraw.
    2. Right-click a selected clip, and choose Associated Audio Files on the pop-up menu to open the
    Associated Audio Files dialog.
    3. Click the Recompute Picture(s) button. A dialog appears, asking if you want to recompute the
    pictures on the selected clips.
    4. Click OK.

Missing the waveform does, luckily, not affect the audio, so your live performance was not at risk, except for the inconvenience of looking at flatline clips.
Cleaning the Picture Cache file should also make SONAR re-draw all the audiowaves, because full Picture Cache is the most common cause of missing waveforms.

Regarding the picture cache and audio data folder locations: Do you keep them on drive C or put them on a different drive? Will this affect how much data each can contain before they become "full"? I have not yet gotten the difference between the audio data folder and the wave file folder.

The picture cache should either remain on drive C or be put on a separate drive, but not on the same drive as your project files/audio data. A dedicated project file/audio data drive is preferable.

I have this happen occasionally when I record some tracks and Sonar crashes. When I reopen the project, only the clips just recorded have no waveform but playback correctly. I use the bounce to clips option to restore the wave form.

This doesn't seem to be what you are experiencing, but bounce to clips may also work for you.

Does that remedy missing wave forms, or at least slim down the chances of them occuring? Thanks for the tip - moving folder.... Wow! Something is going crazy with this forum!!!!

    Hi Marius,

Not sure if it helps with that problem... maybe. The main reason to do it is for improved disk streaming performance. If SONAR has to access both the picture cache and the project audio data from the same drive, it can affect performance. Accessing the data from separate drives is better. Of course, you'll probably only notice this on very large projects, but still...

There's no need to bounce the track. Just follow John's instructions in post number 2.

@Scott - thanks for the tip. I don't have much problem with missing waveforms but it has happened from time to time. However, the performance gain is very interesting. I have some crazy large projects going on and every ounce of grunt that I can squeeze out of my black box is very welcome! Cheers!

The peak overview files are not kept/stored with the project.
They're stored in the Picture Cache folder.
No worries... follow the directions above
