seperatly recorded midi tracks all play the same patch

 i have a yamaha tyros 3 keyboard. i've configured my delta 1010lt sound card in sonar x1 and imported instrument definitions for the tyros 3. after recording a midi track (selecting outputs, banks and patches in sonar) i playback the track through my yamaha keyboard and everything sounds great. however when i go to record a new midi track by selecting a different output channel, bank and patch, the newly recorded track plays with the same patch as the original one. if you haven't already figured it out, i am a newbie but i'm not just asking this question without first searching all of my resources. i'm coming up emtpy so far. anyone have a suggestion where to start?

    you probably need to set up the tyros to accept OMNI as input.  it is probably defaulted to channel 1 (that's what all yamahas do that I have used)

    Sonar will record each track on whatever track you send it on. You can force it to playback each track on a separate channel with a different patch, but your synth needs to be in multitimbral or General MIDI mode for that to work.
