XI STUDIO - ARPEGGIATOR

Is there a way to hear an arpeggiated baseline if you start anywhere within a track, because the only way I'm hearing it is if I start from the beginning of the arpeggiated line.

    Well..
You WILL hear the arp but only if the arpeggiator is started by note on msg.. however if you have one long note that starts at the beginning of the song then you are not starting the arp if you press play at bar 8.

If you determine the length of the arp pattern you can limit the note length to the arp duration and reinsert the note... so if its a 2-bar pattern place notes of 2-bar length..

    hope that helps

What he means is: your pattern is triggered by the midi notes. So if you stat playback after the MIDI notes start, then they don't get triggered.

This is a fundamental limitation of MIDI. We see MIDI notes in sequencers as continuous lines, but under the hood, there's just a note on message at the start of the line, and a note off message at the end. In between, there's no data for the DAW to see.

I can imagine ways of coding around this, but I've never seen a DAW yet that does it.
