Akai lpk25 recording midi but no sound on playback

Hi,

I just bought an lpk25 and it is supposed to be plug and play.  I plugged it in and started Sonar 7 producer and it will record midi data using the lpk 25 but I cannot get sound on playback.  I have a Sony Vaio with an i5, 4GB ram, and I am trying to use the built it sound card (Realtek??).  Any thoughts or ideas?  Thanks!!

    Welcome to the forum!
Help files, reference manual and the tutorials are your friends.
What soft synth are you using? MIDI has no sound, it's like digital sheet music.
It needs a soft synth to play it back in audible form. Check tutorial # 4 (I think it still is).

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

I would suggest going here and watching all the ones pertaining to midi and virtual instruments:

if I had to guess it sounds like you don't have the lpk25 setup to trigger a softsynth.

In short, MIDI is DATA, not audio MIDI doesn't have any sounds. MIDI instructs soft synths to produce sounds. so you need to have some sort of soft synth in order for your MIDI to produce sounds.
