Another option to consider would be to first clone the track in Sonar and do all your edits to the new cloned track. I do this as a rule so I always have an unedited original version to fall back on without having to go back to the original saved project version. You can mute or archive and/or hide the original track to protect an original copy. I also, usually, save /clone a copy before any freeze/bounce to clips so that if I have a quick method of backtracking if I overlooked anything(which is often) .
I do not know, how using both program simultaneously, would impact the overall resources available to Sonar.
