bounce to clip error

hello I am trying to bounce a chopped up clip to a single clip but i keep getting a strage error: http://www.elijahlucian.com/bouncetoclip.jpg i tried restarting but it still doesn't work! i selected the clips, right clicked and clicked : bounce to clip(s) and got that dialog. this just started happening today for seemingly no reason...

What happens if you bounce those clips to track instead of to clip?

You can bounce just one track to another track, so just use the usual way of bouncing -Select the track, then Edit-Bounce to track, let it go to the default new track it'll create.  All those sliced up bits will be bounced to one .wav file.  I would want to select just the portion of the time line involved, rather than the whole project's length.

oh and as a further note: It was cakewalk classic phaser that was causing the issue. even tho it doesn't save the effect when you bounce to clip. so kind of a bug. ill go report it i guess. it didn't even help when i disabled that effect. i had to remove it completely from the FX bin.

Hmm, that could be a 32 bit to 64 bit issue with that phaser.  But bouncing to tracks will save FX in the bounced track if you want it to-(not to clip, as you noticed)-but usually you wouldn't want to burn your FX to a track.  Best to save them for when you're really ready to mix your whole tune.  So you would just ask for the FX to not be included, if you'd prefer to have clean tracks to work with during the mix.

Glad to point out something you didn't know before.  Cool.

Cool, NP.  Bouncing to tracks is something I do constantly because my work is mostly with soft synths, and I prefer to bounce their MIDI tracks to audio so that when I'm mixing, I can feel like I'm in L.A. or Nashville with tons of for-real-Audio tracks to work with.  hehe.  (there are actually other, more practical reasons that I bounce my MIDI - but the Big Studio analogy is still part of the trip.)

But consolidating audio tracks to cleaner tracks with bounce is another staple of working in Sonar - like what you did with cleaning up that chopped up guitar track into one solid track.

    Carry on.
