Bouncing a Kontakt midi track to audio in Sonar?

Hi there, I did a search but could not find the answer here. If this problem has already been solved, please direct me to the appropriate thread. Thanks.

All I want to do is bounce a single Kontakt midi track to audio. I prefer to work with multi-outs in Kontakt. Each midi channel has it's own audio output. I tried selecting (in solo) the Kontakt midi track (not the clip) and also selected the corresponding Kontakt audio track to do the bounce, but the new audio track that is created has a flatline waveform, no sound. I could freeze the synth, but I don't like having to freeze all the parts just to bounce a 10 second clip for instance.

I don't get this problem when bouncing any other soft synth. I have no problems bounding to tracks with anything else so far. But, Kontakt won't let me do this.

I specifically just want to bounce certain Kontakt midi clips (specified begin and end time, so I'm not bouncing the entire length of the track) to audio. It's a simple task, but for some reason Sonar is making this so damn difficult.

Any suggestions?

I haven't tried bouncing a specific timelength of konktakt, so I don't know if this behavior is exhibited on mine or not.  I'll try to remember to try this later.

in the meantime, you could bounce the entire track and then just slip edit the area you want bounced.

or you could slip edit the MIDI track so that the part before and after the area you want bounced is MUTED before bouncing.

Yeh, this is an annoyance. What I do is freeze the synth (and go have a cup of tea while it's doing it), insert a new audio track, highlight the section of interest and use ctl-shift-drag to copy it into the new track.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Thanks for the reply guys. I guess freezing is the only way through it. It doesn't help when my projects are 40 mins long, and I have quite a number of Kontakt tracks on the go.

If anyone finds a better way of bouncing specific Kontakt midi clips to audio, let me know.

Problem solved. I tinkered with it for a while tonight and decided to try something out of the blue. I copied the midi clip into the Kontakt audio track. Then I highlighted both the midi and audio tracks, made a selection just before and after the clips, and bounced to track. It worked like a charm. I found out that you can pretty much put any small midi clip into the Kontakt audio track in the area where you want to bounce the relative Kontakt midi track and it works. Without some midi info pasted into the Kontakt audio track, the bouncing doesn't work.

    Strange huh?
