Dumb Question

This may be a dumb question but it has me stumped.  How in the world do you make X! stop rewinding back to the start position whenever you stop play?  I stop it because this is the part of the song that I want to edit.  This was a simple thing to fix in 8.5.  You used to simply be able to go to global settings and change it.  Also, why does the audio engine always turn off when you stop playback.  I often want to play a soft synth to practice a part after listening to my song.  Once I hit stop the soft synth will not sound unless I use the mouse to click on the audio engine Icon.  This is very irritating.  Thanks in advance.

    To change the Now time marker behavior
    On the Track view Options menu, clear the On Stop, Rewind to Now Marker option to have the
    Now time marker move to follow the current Now time when you stop playback.
    Or
    On the Track view Options menu, select the On Stop, Rewind to Now Marker option to have the
    Now time snap back to the Now time marker when you stop playback
