If you'd said it was Govan, I'd have checked it out earlier! In my humble opinion, GG is the most proficient guitar player alive, and the most melodic 'shredder'.

    Listening now...

Heh, same here!  I'll go check it out as well (I have Govan's CD and love Waves).

Bat you may want to get Guitar World mag if you don't.

    Govan is now a columnists.

He says " Tone is a weird thing to define. For some, it's a matter of finding the perfect amp setting and the perfect pickup. For me, it's a state of mind. I've always been into the idea that you can play one note a million different ways and that's the joy of the electric guitar as opposed to the piano, which can just turn a note on and off and determine how loud it is. The electric guitar is a vocal instrument, and like a voice my tone can vary note by note."

I know that's why I have a hard time in threads of tone and equipment....I agree with him in that it is a state of mind....tone comes from within first.

James you are not alone in your opinion. The greatest string slingers on earth consider him a guru and has the reputation as one of the best transcibers.....I'm sure him being a prodigy that starting playing at 3 didn't hurt.
