Multi Select tracks with CTRL - known bug?
UI bug: STEPS Click selection tool Select and drag a WAV track portion on track 1 4 tracks down SHIFT and click on the fourth track, MUST BE on the clip itself. BEHAVES AS EXPECTED, e.g. Portion of four tracks now selected (clip). NOW FOLLOW THESE UNRELATED STEPS Click selection tool Select and drag a WAV track portion on track 1 Then select the fourth track with CTRL and click on the fourth track, MUST BE on the clip itself. EXPECTED Portion of two tracks selected (Clips on both tracks 1 + 4) ACTUAL No tracks selected (it resets selection). WORKAROUND Click selection tool Select a WAV track portion on track 1 Select the fourth track with CTRL and click on the fourth track, BUT THIS TIME click on the number 4 on the track itself (next the WAV icon and name of the track). Thanks...

Have you submitted this "bug" to Cakewalk? While it's informative for us on this forum - if it is a real bug Cakewalk won't act on it unless it's reported through their official system to be found here.- From the Sticky thread: "How To Contact Cakewalk Directly" If you think you may have found a defect in a Cakewalk program, inform us so we can fix it: http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/ProblemReporter/

CakeAlexS NOW FOLLOW THESE UNRELATED STEPS Click selection tool Select and drag a WAV track portion on track 1 Then select the fourth track with CTRL and click on the fourth track, MUST BE on the clip itself. EXPECTED Portion of two tracks selected (Clips on both tracks 1 + 4) I can confirm this does not work as "Expected", and I can see how that expectation would be logically/intuitively consistent with the way Ctrl-clicking works in other contexts (i.e. add to selection), but is it actually documented anywhere in the Reference Guide that it will work this way in this context? I think this straddles the line between a bug and a feature request. Incidentally, I discovered another strange behavior in testing this: 1. Drag-select part of an audio clip in the upper half with the Smart tool - the portion becomes shaded. 2. Ctrl-click on the lower half of selected portion - the shading gets much lighter, but is still visible. 3. Drag or Ctrl-drag the lightly-shaded portion. Expected: I'm not sure, because I don't know what a lightly-shaded selection means. Acutal: The portion appears to be getting moved/copied to where you drag it, but when you release the mouse button, nothing has changed.

Thanks Brundlefly... This is a UI consistency bug. If it isn't documented it then should be as there is already a behaviour within the application. If it is already documented with this weird behaviour then somebody needs to kindly tap the shoulder of the team of person documenting the behaviour and get it corrected/fixed. Correcting an undocumented behaviour is NOT a feature request :).... as I'm sure 99% of programmers will disagree.... Cheers :).

I've reported the bug: http://www.cakewalk.com/support/contact/Problem-Report-Status.aspx?ID=5857 It seems Cakewalk want us to submit each step at a time in their support form. So I just pasted all the steps I had as one step (that will otherwise take me about 10 minutes to complete). I guess they want everything in a nice and easy format for their Visual Studio Test Case Manager. Great for Cakewalk but people will not report bugs when it comes to pressing a submit button everytime there is a step. QA writes test cases not customers. Of course the customer should supply each step (which I have). It's not my job to wrestle with submission buttons. Cheers Alex
