Split Clip at Selection Keybinding?
I want to set a keybinding to split clips at selection.... can't seem to find it. Is it really not an option, or am I just blind?

S splits the clip at the now time. Split at selection is a menu item that splits the clip on both sides of where it is selected.

AFAIK, there are no ¨split at selection¨ key binding (but I may be wrong), I remember I checked for that a long time ago . What I do. (and doing it multiple times, you'll get fast, as an acceptable compromise) 1- use region tool to select region (or use the highest half of a clip with the smart tool) 2- right-click to display contextual menu 2- press S (split menu appears) 3- select SPLIT TO SELECTION 4- press enter this is for the first time in a session, next time you'll need the same function, the SPLIT TO SELECTION will be selected in the split menu automatically (unless you change it for other purposes) so next time it will be select region -- rightclick--- S---Enter Not as convenient as a single keystroke... but you can get what you need in 3 ... Hope that helps ! V

Is there a way to make the Now Time follow where you click anywhere on a clip in X1? That way s would work to split where we clicked- Lance

If you want to split where you click, just hold down the alt key. No need to press 's'

Lanceindastudio Is there a way to make the Now Time follow where you click anywhere on a clip in X1? That way s would work to split where we clicked- Lance This is one of my 'pet' complaints with the Smarttool... Now we have to click twice before you can split... Yes, I know that I can alt-s to split but that doesn't allow me to set the point first... it executes before I'm certain where I want to split... So I'm forced to locate in the upper clip area, then click again in the bottom area to select the clip, and finally s to split... Occassionally I can use the alt-s when my cut doesn't need to be as accurate, but that's not often for me... I'm very particular about the location of my edits.... As I almost never use the click-drag to highlight in the upper clip area, I wish I could disable that function and have my old locate and selct in a single click! <sigh>... Keni

Lanceindastudio clicking and having now time follow would solve it yes? Not quite... It does that now in the upper half of a clip, but it doesn't select the clip as well... For that you must follow the first click (locates the now time) then the lower half of the clip to select the clip... In previous incarnations of Sonar, a single click anywhere in the clip did both. It set the now time as well as selected the clip.... I would love to have the option to toggle the click-drag function of the upper-clip area in smarttool to single-click sets now time and selects clip. I have far more constant need of that than I do the drag function currently supported... Keni

to single-click sets now time and selects clip. Keni, this probably isn't perfect but may speed things up a little for you. In the TV Options menu if you set "Click Behaviour->Right click sets Now" when you right click you set the now time and select the clip. Press ESC gets rid of the context menu that has popped up and leaves the clip selected, or of course select "split" from the menu, if you want to do it straight away. Works anywhere in the clip, top or bottom.

I tried this but as the right click is also the inspector menu, following the rt-click with an S causes the split dialog to open and then another click.... So I'm right where I was... Still too many clicks for a simple job... Keni
