Can't get to the forums via FF - finally fixed! :)
I've about given up on IE, but now I just get an error message when I try to get here via Firefox. What's up with that?

Lots of people have been having trouble with FF6. I, for one, can't add any hyperlinks or smileys. I have to copy and paste the URL. I can't reply to a message with a quote. I also can't edit a message. I also wrote this message as separate lines, but it will show up as one long line. But I haven't had any trouble getting on to the forum.

Weird. I've had some of those issues, but thought it was just the forum software. Well, I imagine this issue is something to do with something on my computer.

I have switched to OPERA and CHROME... right now on Opera... I'm considering deleting FF... I have to use IE for business sites that only work with IE...

I used Chrome for awhile, but it gave me some weird issues too. Can't remember what they were now...maybe they've fixed 'em by now.

On Chrome I get slow loading at times, freezing pages, an interesting scenario wherein the bottom scrollbar will go up with the page as I scroll down the page. FF6 I've tried but could not get it to load anything. IE9..is interesting..it is almost dependent on the moon phase..I swear. I'm sticking with Opera and Chrome for now..they seem to work best for me.

So far the only browser that works for me is Firefox 3.6 and older. All the others have some post stopping catch 22 in them. Even Firefox 3.6 exhibit's a nasty problem that drives me crazy. If I reply to someone and try to resize the reply box, my cursor disappears. Happens on my laptop and my DAW so I know it's not PC specific. I can live with it though, I just know not to touch the reply box anymore. I'd go back to Firefox 3.6 Janet. Even if you only use it for cruising the forums, it's ok. I doesn't use any system resources when not in use. Then you could set it up to make each area of the forum show up in it's own tab when you open it. I think Firefox 4 works ok too, but I don't use it because some add-on's I like won't work with Firefox 4 and newer.

Thanks Bub. I just googled how to do that and it seems there are issues with going back too. I don't have time for any self-inflicted issues right now, so I'll just try to deal with this for now.

Don't worry Janet! We'll make sure you get a CD in the mail with all of Bapu's posts for the week (about 21,000 I believe). Our motto is "No Coffee Houser's Left Behind!" Of course, some people have pointed out that our motto could be misinterpreted, but we just remind them that we wouldn't have it any other way. (The t-shirts may need some work though...)

FF 5.0 is working very well for me. The only drawback is the constant pop-ups telling me I really, really, need to install version 6. Nothing's really free.

Not all cookies are innocent Janet. Some will stick to you like... (insert favorite gooey analogy here) and follow you, wherever you go. You don't clear your cache and cookies on a regular basis ummh?! Opera ended being the most reliable recently, but it also gives me grief at times. The fix is a simple one... updating the forum software. What gives?

No, I'm afraid I don't do a lot of things I probably should regularly. :( Don't you lose all your passwords and stuff when you do? I'm using Chrome again and it's not giving as many problems as it did last year. But at least I can get to these forums again via FF, which makes me happy. :)

I use Opera on this lappy and Chrome on the desk top.... they both work where FF doesn't.

It just goes to prove that there really are no standards anymore. Development is so fast and the products are free so most people don't care. How would we feel about compatibility if we had to pay a fee for our browsers? I seem to recall sending donations to Mozilla in the early net days of the 80's.

"Janet" Don't you lose all your passwords and stuff when you do? Most browsers I know will give you the option to manage cookies, cache, passwords etc., independently but in a unified dialog box. IMHO, never let your browser of choice store passwords. Not a good idea, even if it is very practical. "Guitarhacker" I use Opera on this lappy Do you get the "Server has cut the connection" when posting sometimes. And that also zaps my post into nothingness. I have no choice but to copy my replies before posting them, just in case. It's a pita when I forget to do so as I'm usually long winded.

Now I notice the forum's looking weird in FF...i.e., different fonts, imbedded stuff showing and another error message. And, for the record, I'll admit that I have no idea where my passwords are being stored. I just go for streamlined use whenever possible. I imagine that will come back to haunt me sometime. Edit: Oh, I know what you mean...when it asks if it should save your password. Yeah, I do that now and then. I guess I shouldn't, eh? (sorry, I'm going in too many directions at once these days to be able to think clearly at all times.) Well, it's only a little worse than usual...
