HELP!

Hi all
I play guitar and want to create loops in project 5. I can create a loop in audio and groove it but I cant seem to work out how to reduce the length of of my loops so they sound right ? can anybody explain how I can shorten/chop down the loops so I can get a loop that is a loop?
