Multible questions on Sonar

Hello everybody,
I wanna refresh my Keyboard equipment - and I think the best way is, to make it on software.

So I tried out some DAW up to now - but I haven't found the one I need/want. So now I tried out Sonar X1. But some features I really need I haven't found for now. Now I hope, you can help me or give me some good suggestions.

So first my backround - and what I need:
- a possibility to save sounds presets I wanna use while the gig
- while the gig I want to call the presets via my controller-keyboard
- because we are using playback tracks I wanna control them too via my controller-keyboard

So my questions for Sonor are:
- is it possible in Sonar, to call the saved projects via a controller
- keyboard or do I always need a display with a mouse to do so?
- is there a possibility to implement a "fast sound select". That means: When I hit a special button, then I can play a special sound (e.g. Piano) without changing the loaded project?
- is there a possibility to jump to a special point (while playing back) via the controller-keyboard?
- is there a possibility to mute parts of the playback via the controller-keyboard?

Thank you for your help!
Manuel

Try make it easier to read what your question is.

But for live work, I still cannot handle the latency of plugins.

I still use a JV1010 and an Akai Z8, now fitted with a solid-state drive.

Well..it might be that the browser he is using is not letting him format the questions properly either...

I'd be almost thinking that the buffers might be set a little to high for one thing...another might be the drivers as well..who knows.

I've been looking at Arturia's Origen keyboard here.

The space you have will always be exceeded in direct proportion to the amount of stuff you have...Thornton's Postulate.

Thanks for your hint one of my computer really showed it different. I've changed the text to an html textfile - so it works now on the other computer correctly.

@ Jazzsinger: The latecy is no problem on my system! Try out the "asio4all" driver if the latency will be better.

You need a workstation like kronos or motif to do that easily. More convinint for stage anyway. As i see it sonar is not easily controllable, I mean come on if you cannot tap tempo in sonar from keyboard?

V-Studio 100, Sony VAIO i7 2.93GHz/ 8GB RAM, Pianoteq, Sonar X1 Studio, ezDrummer, Macbook Pro, Roland RD700GX stage piano, Yamaha Motif XS6 workstation, Rode NT-1A, AKG Perception 220

    Hi kc2ine,

you're right. On the first view the Motif does everything I wanted - but on the second view, you have some unsolvable (the hardware is limited, so there really is no work around to do everything I want).

The only thing would be: Using the Motif together with a laptop (this was the ieda of the yamaha forum memebers)..... so I can kick the motif and jsut use a laptop :/

But I'll have to take a look on the Kronos. Perhaps this device does everything I need....

I have motif XS6, it works very nicely as a surface control. Kronos is good too but way more expensive since it's new.

There asre quite a few regulars who use SONAR live both with VST's as sound sources and as MIDI controllers for quite a lot of equipment.

I've checked out the Kronos and WOW! It's wonderful! There are only 3 things, that would make the Kronos perfect: a lower price, VST-plugins and an easier control-surface (and not 8 pages behind 7 front pages) :)

    @mudgel
That's the thing I also want to do! To controll other Midi equipment from SONAR - that's easy. But the other way not!
Do you know, how they control SONAR in live situations?

The other way would be the idea of kc2ine: not using a software solution -> using a hardware solution
