How many ways are there to open an active tracks VST GUI...??

...and can I keybind a shortcut to do it?  What I'd like to be able to do is hit a hotkey and open the GUI of the instrument on the active track.  Is this doable??

I have always doubled clicked on the VST/DXFX in the FX bin to open the plugin's GUI.

I wondering if a hot key is possible because which one would be opened if one has more then one?

I'm not talking about FX in the Bin.  I'm talking about the Synths, Samplers, Drums and such.  In other words, if I want to open Lounge Lizard and I have that track active...can I hit a hot key and pop open the GUI.  I don't like double clicking the little track header icon (which is what I do now) and since they've moved the synth rack to the browser I never use it.

Nuts that was where I was going to say go- the synth rack and just click on the icon there. The way you are describing it one would think it could be done. I rely on the mouse for this stuff, sorry.

Yea, I know, ol pal, it seems like an obvious thing for a hotkey.  Anyone??  Scott??  Colonel??

See...this is frustrating.  If started a thread that said either "X1 sucks big time"  or "X1 possibly the definitive DAW" I'd have more activity and posts than Carter's got little liver pills.  But I ask a simple question regarding existing functionality (or lack thereof) in X1 and with a couple of exceptions....the sound of crickets chirping.

Don't make me change the title!!!!!

I usually double-click on the Output dropdown in the track header.

I don't know any way to open a synth using only keystrokes. Alt-8 opens the synth rack (or sets focus to it if already loaded) and P opens a synth from there, but there is no way to blindly select a specific synth in the rack (must use arrow keys and visually stop at the desired slot).

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Hey ol pal - you can stick all your instruments in the multi dock. Then just click the tab for your instrument when you want to open it's GUI. It's not a keybind - but it's nice and easy. That's what I do anyway...

I usually double-click on the small track icon to the left of the track name ....

Using Xray windows, I can easily manipulate the synth and still keep working in track view

Yea, that's what I do too, eternal85, ol pal.  I might give jbraner's method a try although I don't really use the multidock.  I would really like a single hotkey binding that would both open and close an instrument gui on the currently active track tho...looks like feature request time.
