HS4 Recording Driver Issue?

I fired up HS4 on the old computer to track some cassettes. Everything was fine last week, but now, I can here the audio thru the studio monitors, I get level light on the Mobile Pre, but I get no input levels when I arm the tracks and no record. All of the drivers look right, inputs 1 and 2 selected, audio engine on, global setting and audio settings look right...just weird. Also tried opening old project...can't hear it either.

It's like HS4 says it's connected but really isn't.

Almost every USB and FireWire audio interface sometimes loses connectivity. The fix may vary by device, but the usual method of resetting is to turn off/unplug the device, wait a few minutes and turn on/plug in the device.
Happens every few months with my Saffire. Check the manual for the Mobile Pre.

what do you have plugged into the mobile pre for output?  headphones?  speakers?

make sure your output driver is not set to SPDIF which is another problem that tends to happen with m-audio drivers.  OPTIONS>AUDIO and make sure the PLAYBACK (or the RECORDING) DEVICE is not set to SPDIF.

OK figured it out and found other issues...may be helpful to others.

It quit working when XP upgraded to SP3. Disconnect/reconnect of usb didn't help...but thanks for the reminder.

Download and install of SP3 driver from M Audio created conflicts with onboard sound card. Followed M Audio instructions for resolution through device manager, no good as forced install of driver created error "files missing".

Resolution: Uninstalled M Audio drivers, deleted M Audio folders from C:/Programs and used C Cleaner to clear registry of M Audio references. Downloaded and installed driver for original XP (not SP2 or SP3)...everything works fine as before.

    Thanks for the help.
