Switching between different audio interfaces... chaning settings every time?

For those of you who have and use several different Audio Interfaces, how do you handle changing the Audio Hardware settings in Sonar each time you switch interfaces? It seems that different audio interfaces would requrie different settings, such as buffer sizes, sample rates, etc. Do you just memorize these settings for each interface and just manually change them each time you change interfaces?

For example, I have been using the MME 32-bit drivers with my built-in Realtek sound card. But I have a M-Audio Fast Track interfaces that I will be using from time to time. However, I will be switching back to the MME sometimes as well, i.e. when I take my laptop around away from home. And the settings such as buffer sizes and sample rates vary between the two sound cards.

Thanks in advance

I personally would not try to go back and forth between two interfaces that can't use the same driver mode, sample rate, bit depth, and some reasonable buffer size like 128 samples. That's just asking for headaches, I think.

Yes I do agree that, ideally, one would stick to one primary interface to use all the time for everything. And I do plan on doing that for the most part. However, there will be some instances when I will be taking my laptop somewhere away from home without taking my interface with me. And in those cases, I would have to changes my buffer and sample settings to avoid any stuttering.

So I'm assuming there is no systematic way of changing these settings and that they must be done manually?

I am pretty sure all those changes have to be done manually, Sorry.
