A couple tips needed regarding midi output and video

Howdy folks. I'm a film composer and a long time Sonar user that went to Logic, but I wanted to try Sonar X1 on my laptop and need a couple really basic tips to get up to speed.
1. I can't seem to get 16 channels of midi to work on a Kontakt multi track instrument. Just the first one works. When I create a separate midi track for channels 2-16 none of the midi channels work even though I have them going to the right Kontakt channels. I'm really scratching my head on this as I used to do this all the time in old Sonar. This is taking me back to my newbie days..

2. As I feared, quicktime is still not supported in Sonar X1. (this is the main reason I went to Logic since all of my clients deliver in Quicktime H.264 files) Can anyone recommend the BEST program for converting Quicktime H.264 to AVI?
Thanks!

In the MIDI track channel output are you setting it to the right one. You should have a choice of 1 to 16. It should say 1 or 2 or 3 and Kontakt. Looking like this output to=3 Kontakt. Its a drop down menu listing input of Kontakt.

In Kontakt is say channel 3 set to receive from channel 3 and is the  Kontakt channel output to an audio out in the mixer and is it active?

I'm only familiar with a few video editing programs but I've been using Any Video Converter Professional for a couple of years to convert video formats and I'm pretty happy with it. They also have a freeware version you could check out.

As for the midi situation.. I'm stumped. Kontakt input is set to OMNI
I have three instruments loaded in that instance Midi Channel Port A1  - A2 - A3
I have three midi channels outputting to that Kontakt instance each to a different midi channel. But they all just trigger the first channel and not the other two.

If you are saying everything is going to the first channel in Kontakt then you have not set the track output to the proper channel. See my post above.

The output on my midi channels only give me the option for (Kontakt 4 16out 1) which is the name of the Kontakt instance. It gives me no other options for outputs.
Is that what you mean, the midi output?

In input gives me options for 1-16 but only 1 works.

I hope this helps. Notice I have selected channel 3.

All MIDI tracks have the two outputs. The first selects what soft synth or hardware synth you want to output to. This is based on the port. Only with soft synth there is no port. The second selects the channel as pictured above.

What other input options do you have besides OMNI?
