sounds like you have a sample pack ? you still need the giga plugin.... which they don't make now.. so NO no sequencer can use it directly .. kontakt can import it though

Yeah, as Fog mentioned, you can use Kontakt. Although if you're using the free Kontakt Player there are limitations with libraries that are not produced for Kontakt. IE: Non-licensed libraries can be used for 15 minutes at a time in demo mode and without the ability to save your work. Are you using the free Maestro-Concert-Grandv2? I have that. It's very nice.

I got Gigastudio with like Sonar 2? I nevercould get it to work right (that is no reflection on GS... I had a hard time getting anything to work back then). I gave up on Gigastudio years ago. J

Vsampler reads giga files as well as other programs- I would probably go with Kontakt or something else over Vsampler though-

no, sonar itself is not a sampler. from that website: But you must have a sampler that can read and play the gigasampler format to use it, like Halion, Kontakt, VSampler, or Gigastudio of course... The only freeware that can read this format are Synthfont and Linux Sampler, and they are not easy to use. you must have gigastudio or another sampler that can import and convert the samples.

ok, thanks I'm downloading free Kontakt player. Is it standalone or Sonar plugin?

I don't think the free Kontakt player will work either. the free player is limited in what it can play. vendors have to pay Native Instruments in order to be able to have a format used by the free player. it doesn't cost them to write sample libraries to be able to be used in the full version. also, I am pretty sure the free player will not import non-kontakt samples. the samples you downloaded from that website are in the gigastudio format, not in a format the free player can use.

Kontakt free player does indeed work, I use that same piano lib with it. but you'll have to decide if the limitations that I mention above will be a problem or not. Edit: It comes with both VSTi and Standalone.

ok tried the Kontakt but it's ridiculous, plays only few minutes, and then each time the samples has to be reloaded. I see Native Instruments offers some free sound downloads, are they really free and worthy trying?

I use the GVI plugin bridged to 64 bit via Jbridge. I still love the brightness of that giga piano. I use Alecia's keys for darker more natural sounds. I use GVI in Vienna MIR as well for some old giga vienna tymps and harps. Last I remember the giga piano to kontakt conversion wasn't pretty. I already owned GVI as well though, so bridging was easy.
