piangio,
I hear what you are saying and agree, but to be fair I'm wondering if you and I don't experience the same issues as others because we use (just assuming) Sonar in a more straight thru recording fashion that others. It looks to me like much of the latest challenges (beyond color scheme changes and a lack of strong notation) people face are around a solid looping environment which requires exceptional low latency performance.
I tend to record using pretty straight forward techniques of audio recording with some synths (mainly midi drum patterns and a bit of keys) and that has worked out just as well as it did in 8.x and earlier for me. I'll later add quite a few plug-ins, automation, and such for the mixes but that has worked well for me.
I personally think that all this frustration is beneficial in the long-run as it shows Roland and Cakewalk that the "bar is set higher" now. Anytime they tread into new territories that other DAW do well in, they have to realize that they need to hit the target on the first try (not the third or fourth) as that just leaves potential new clients with a bad taste in their mouths. Not to mention existing customers...
I've said before that I wish Roland/Cakewalk would honestly take this community's word when some have asked to beta test the software before an official release of their product. I'd be willing to run it through a few copies of my projects just to see if I can find any issues before the final release. Maybe someday they will take us up on our offer.
