The Inspiration for the name X1?

I may be way off the mark or perhaps the last one to realize it, but it struck me when watching a documentary the other night...

The Bell X-1 was the first aircraft to exceed the speed of sound (supersonic) in 1947.

Does this mean there won't be an Sonar X2?

well... 8.5 was really version 9.0... so this next version would be 10, or ... version X... also makes a nice transition to a new series version X1, X2, X3... etc... it could have easily been GX1 as in "Generation 10, version 1"... what's in a name?

    X1 could be 11 like in 2011. X is 10 in roman numerals + 1.

I saw a movie last night called "Possession" about a kid possessed by a demon. As the Priest was doing the exorcism the demon scratched X1 on the kid's stomach.

That's a lot of data Bub, did the kid have a big stomach?  Did it include any bug fixes?

I don't understand why they won't give it a normal name... like Fredrick... that's a nice name...
