Sonar X3 and Toontrack Superior drummer updates issue

For anyone having issues with Toontrack Superior drummer updates. You will need to do a search for the file "superior drummer.dll" and find the older version file and delete that one as Sonar x3 will not pick up the new path set for the newer version.

Thanks, James

Sonar doesn't pick up the path for newly installed plugins.

Sonar only looks at paths that are specified in the plugin Manager or Preferences/VST settings.

Often times plugin installers give you the option to choose the path or they actively search out the path of a previously installed version. If not then you either have to add that path to Sonars plugin search or move the plugin manually.

This cannot be done with VST3 plugins as they have a set installation path determined by the VST3 spec.

If you don't delete the old file, Sonar x3 will continue to pick up the old file even if you go to "Preferences' and "remove" the old path and "add" a new path, it still will go to the old file. The old file must be deleted first. Then it will follow the new path for the updated version.

Just overwrite the existing file with the new version. That's what happens when you up date a plugin, the old version gets over written by the new one.

You don't have to change any path in Sonar when you update plugins to newer version. By whatever means whether by the installer or manually, you replace the old version of the dll file with the new one.

I don't think every computer and every program is the same though. I don't think everything happens perfectly in the world.   All I know is I spent 4 hours today on the Toontrack forum with the admin trying to get it strait and with my computer, they newly downloaded updates for Toontrack did not overwrite the existing files.   I am just posting what I found that helped me in case someone else happens to ever come on here having the same issue.
