Beagle's Becan - Mayhem in the Coffee House
Hi folks Well this got previewed in the Coffee House a couple of weeks ago and I think its about time to force it onto the rest of the forum. The lyrics are very Coffee House related, so don't worry if you don't understand what the f*&% is going on... Big thanks to BayouBill and ScottyTunes for their wikid skilz init! I don't know what gave me the inspiration, or even if the effort was even worth it, but something in the CH a few months ago set a spark in my imagination and here's the result. Beagle's Becan Guitar break by Bill of the bayou Violin solo by Scottytunes The Beagle went down to the Coffee House, he was looking for Becan to steal. He'd been on a diet, was about to riot: he was ready for a proper meal. when he came across this old girl shakin' a frying pan and it was hot. And the Beagle jumped up on a kitchen chair and said; "Girl let me tell you what: "I bet you didn't know it, but I'm a master in the kitchen "and I've got so high on grits and rye my paws just won't stop itchin' "Now that looks pretty good Becan, girl, I'll tell ya what I'm gonna do: "I bet your soul 'gainst a Cowbell of gold that I can eat more than you." The girl said "My name's Karyn and my appetites alarming "and if you try to take this becan from me you'll find I'm less than charming." Karyn fetch your favorite sticks and play that cowbell hard. 'Cos Beagles in the kitchen when he should be in the yard. And if you win you get this shiny cowbell made of gold. But if you lose, the Becans got to go. So Beagle sat and scratched his ear while eyeing up the fridge door. And fire flew from his rear end as he shot across the floor And he threw some Becan in a pan and it made an evil hiss. Then all the Coffee House Band joined in and it sounded something like this. When the Beagle finished, Karyn said: "Well you're pretty good for a dog. "Now pass that fryin' pan over here and I'll show you how to cook hog." Spam in the forum, run boys, run. Propping up the bar in the Megaton Sun. Spacey in the back room, tappin' in frets "Have you paid your Bouy tax?", "No, not yet" The Beagle stopped his chewing 'cos he knew then he'd been beat. and said "Now pass that Spotted Dick, this here's just too much meat." Karyn said "Now come here pup, and don't you be so silly" She rolled him over on to his back and tickled his big furry belly Spam in the forum, run boys, run. Propping up the bar in the Megaton Sun. Spacey in the back room, tappin' in frets "Have you paid your Bouy tax?", "No, not yet"

LOL! Very cool Karyn. nice fiddling and picking from the lads...Beagle certainly deserves a song to himself and the pre-eminent poster (indeed, top dog) in this house... one technical point, you prob wanna lost the breath sounds prior to each line in the spoken word bits. Love both the fiddle solo (some cool arpeggios in that one!) and the guitar solo with its stolen riff...

Thanks for the comments Mark. I spent hours musing over those breath sounds. IMO it sounds awful without them, dead and flat, but V-Vocal ignores them when pitchshifting so it sounds like someone else is doing the breathing for the vocalist... In the end I just thought sod it, everyone knows the vox is v-vocaled so I'll just leave it.

CooooooL I know what you mean about breath sounds. I like them usually but I tweak them. As far as the breath sounds go, there is an inbetween where they are there but they're not via envelopes.

I heard this in the CH... nice to hear it again. On the breath issues, I use a very easy method to eliminate them. I drag the vox track to the top and enlarge it with zoom. Then I highlight the "breath in" and use process audio>mute to get it gone. Zoomed in to the right level it's very easy and quick, much faster then using the envelopes to get rid of them.

Love it Karyn, awesome monster collab. Lyrics and concept is what I call real entertainment. Scotty a virtuoso solo on anything you put in front of him, but this one pleases me the best of all. Now that's some fiddle playing! Bill always great to hear your tones and style. I've always said the world needs more songs about Beagle and becan. This one just might be the trend setter.
