Adding Audio Effects to Simple Instrument Tracks

I can no longer add audio effects (e.g., Lexicon, Guitar Rig) to a simple instrument track. Right-Clicking the effects bin only offers MIDI plug-ins. What have I forgotten? Edit: This is intermittent: sometimes I can add audio effects and sometimes not.

Konradh--avoid all such puzzles by not using so-called "simple" instrument tracks which consistently cause more confusion than they're worth. Ask for a separate MIDI track and an Audio track. Then you know what's what--add your audio effect to the audio track. Even better, wait to add that FX to the bounced audio track you make from the MIDI track. RB

Are you using the inspector? If so, you might have to click the Audio/MIDI tab at the bottom. If it's in the Track View header, then I have no idea. Never experienced the same my self.

The Track Inspector allows you to focus on either the Audio or MIDI aspects of the instrument track.  Just switch between the two as needed.   Or you could use separate tracks as Randy suggested.   Both have their pros and cons.
