PreSonus FireStudio Mobile: audio drops out in WDM, get pops/cracks in ASIO

I've got an iMac with Bootcamp (Windows 7), and whenever I run Sonar in Windows with my FireStudio Mobile connected via Firewire, I get some recording problems. When I'm in WDM mode, I get the red DROPOUT in the task bar almost immediately after pressing record. When I'm in ASIO mode, clicking on "ASIO Panel..." in the audio preferences does nothing, and I get pops/clicks when listening to the recording.

This is an older version of SONAR (SONAR 6), but I'm guessing that this isn't SONAR's fault. Any ideas on what to do?

    Usually if you're getting pops and clicks, it's a buffering issue.  What are your audio settings?  Which audio interface are you using?

    Arlen, thanks for getting back to me. I was thinking it might be a buffering issue, but I get the pops and clicks when I've got the driver in ASIO mode, and clicking on "ASIO Panel..." brings up nothing, so I can't see what the ASIO settings are. Not sure what you mean by audio interface other than PreSonus FireStudio Mobile.

    does the FireStudio have it's own console? When you click the ASIO panel button, it normally takes you to the interfaces console (or something similar).
    If you're getting pops and clicks, a buffering issue is where you usually start.  
    Go to the Audio options tab and find the "Advanced" tab.
    What are your I/O settings for playback and record?  If they are lower then 128, try increasing them by 128 (then testing) until satisfactory.
