my vocals outpace my instrumentals...

when i record my vocals over an existing instrumental, i know im on beat when recording, but during playback the vocals get progressively faster so by the end of the verse, lyrics are way ahead of the beat...can anybody explain why this is happening and what i can do to remedy this problem?

    We would need your hardware and software specs to answer, also what drivers you're using.
    It's no use giving advice if your hardware or software does not support the actions suggested.

    SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

    Make sure that the sampling rate and bit depth of MC and your sound card are the same.
    Are you using a USB microphone?

    might be latency as you say Greg... try pulling the latency slider about in MC Stofer.
