Studio Instrument, 7XL, drum grid pane

How do I get SI-drums in 7XL to use the drum grid view?

You use a MIDI track that has it's output set to SI Drums. The MIDI track is where you get the Piano Roll View (and drum grid), not the soft synth track.

That's real close, but it takes an extra step or two to display the drum grid properly.
As Greg wrote, you  use a MIDI track set to SI Drums.
It doesn't work quite right as a Simple Instrument Track, so insert SI Drums with a MIDI Source Track, and First Synth Audio Output.
In the MIDI track, click Input/Output, then the down arrow in the output field. Hover your cursor over New Drum Map.
Scroll waaaay down the list 'til you see Studio Instruments-Drums, and select that.
Now your MIDI track output will reflect the Drum map( don't worry, it is being routed back to SI Drums internally).
If you select the Piano Roll View for the SI drums MIDI track, you should see a drum grid specific to SI Drums.
On a side note, SI Drums is GM mapped, and what you are seeing is really a GM map with all of the other drums filtered out.

Thanks I got it to work.  But so now there are two tracks for SI-drums, I'm a little confused as to this.  And which one should I make my EQ and mix edits?

Whichever one the MIDI track is aimed at.
