"Use Me" by Bill Withers- First cover I've ever done-Final Mix

I've always loved this song. I don't as a rule do covers, but while just jamming on this in the studio one evening I decided it would be a lot of fun to try it. This is the final mix, aided by some kind suggestions from the folks here and elsewhere.  Many thanks to the folks at Universal Music Group and The Harry Fox Agency for their assistance.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed recording it!!

Cool cover of a great tune, Bob.  I really like where you're headed with this.  My suggestions would be boost the excellent vox and consider throwing in a Rhodes-ish pad at points.  The bass line sounded cool, and I'd say to push that a bit more, but I was just listening on my pc speakers, so not the best way to evaluate a bass line.

Great job though... liked it very much.

Thanks so much for the listen and the comments Phil! I considered adding either an organ or piano part to compliment the rhythm guitar but my keyboard skills are really limited. I might give it a shot though, that's why they make the "undo" button, LOL.

After taking a day off from listening the bass and kick both could probably use a little boost, I'll adjust those when I put the CD together.

    Thanks again!!

I love the original, and you do justice to Mr Withers. Very funky. Great bass track, boost it just a tad, and it works well with a terrific drum track. Fantastic lead guitar tone. You do a faithful cover but give it your own flavor. Great work!

Bob, I agree with Philz's comments -- u need to bring the vocals forward in the mix, especially very early in the song.  Also some Rhodes or even horns would compliment it nicely, but it can work as is regardless.

Mark- I have remixed the track but haven't posted the remix yet, hopefully tomorrow, but yeah, the bass is a little low I'm thinkin'. The guitar was done with my Tele and Guitar Rig 5, thanks a lot for the kind words!

cwestmont- I have also upped the vox just a bit in the remix, thanks very much for the listen and comments.

bayoubill- Yeah, I have always loved this song and it was a blast to do! I really appreciate your compliment on my vocal, Bill Withers is a hard act to follow!

    Thanks again guys!

dunno if this is the remix version or no, but sounds awesome listening on phones...very cool bass line (though i'd like to hear a little more upper mids in its tone) and vocals are at a great level. guitar solo is very good...i'd say this is pretty good to go!

Thanks Luke! Really appreciate it, this is the final mix.

Thanks a lot mgh, I took your suggestion and put a little more upper mids on the bass and boosted it a tad.

The kind comments are most appreciated!!
